Minority Grants
If you belong to an official minority in the United States there are several minority grants available to you. Grants are provided for students that want to go to college and have substancial financial needs and would not be able to finance their education by themselves. In the case of minority grants the financial aid is not soley based on for example family income but also awarded based on your minority status.
Please allways check if you officialy belong to a minority group living in the United States because only this fact makes you eligible for a minority grant.
In most cases a minority grant is regarded as financial aid for people belonging to a certain ethnic groups of people. Hispanic Americans or African Americans can often find grants that are designed especially for their ethnic group. These kind of financial aid usually has the goal to diversify the educational structur and guide people of certain ethnic groups in to those profesional fields they would not usually choose.
But you do not have to belong to a certain ethnic group to belong to a minority. For example women are also considered a minority because they have allways been underrepresented in colleges and universities. This has now changed but there are still many grants for women available.
Another minority are handicapped students that are eligible for special grants that help them finance their education. These grants usually try to help handicapped students to improve their quality of life at college or gives support to special needs of these students.
Minority Grants
If you belong to any of the above mentioned group you need some sources of finance that support your special need. There is a variety of sources available like there is a vareity of minorities present in the United States. To find the program that is right for you is sometimes difficult. As a basic start you should allways try to aquire financing from the traditional scholarships and grants that are open to apply for everyone. The most popular and basic grant that is available to everyone is the Pell Grant. After applying to these general sources of financing you should then concentrate on programs that are designed especially for minority groups.

As thes multinational coorporations promote diversity and multiculturality they also need to save some spots in their scholarship programs to certain ethnic groups od handicapped students. As you belong to a minority this is a big chance for you because you will not be competening with all the regular apllicants because you will be concidered a minority and will be awarded a special treatment.
As mentioned before please also allways concider the options that are available to all other students in addition to your application for minority grants. If you have applied to all the programs available and still did not raise enough money you can also consider student loans.
